Digital audio editing is the process of manipulating and assembling digital audio files into a pre-determined format which is limited only by the creativity of the audio designer / producer.  These audio files may be created by simply recording an existing sound or using various audio "synthesizers" to create a unique new sound.  Once created, this sound can be edited in a the same way as text and images in a word processing environment.  This provides an almost limitless range of creative possibilities limited only by the amount of time and money that an organization is prepared to spend.

Digital audio editing can be used in almost any aspect of sound creation or re-creation.  We will limit our discussion to three basic fields where digital audio editing is most applicable.  These include music editing, voice editing and general audio editing  - which will complement the two.

Music Editing
